Kingscliff recorded 8,355 residents at the 2021 Census, up nearly 12% on 2016 — one of the sharper growth rates of any town in Bundjalung Country as the Tweed Coast fills in between Kingscliff and Casuarina. The beach itself runs from Dreamtime Beach in the north down to Cudgen Headland, where a well-known right-hand point break and a beach break both draw surfers, and Cudgen Creek's boat ramp gives access for fishing further inland. South of town, the Salt precinct has added resort accommodation, restaurants, and a patrolled beach on what was previously open coastal land.
Kingscliff is Bundjalung Country, on the Tweed Coast between the river mouth at Tweed Heads and the Cudgen and Cabarita headlands further south.
