About Pottsville
Pottsville recorded 7,209 residents at the 2021 Census. It grew from a small holiday-shack settlement around the Cudgera Creek entrance into a fuller residential town from the 1990s onward, and still keeps a lower-key, family-holiday character than its larger neighbours further north. Black Rocks, just south of the village, is a significant patch of remnant coastal bushland and known koala habitat that locals have long pushed to protect as development spreads along the Tweed Coast.
Pottsville is Bundjalung Country, on the coastal strip between the Tweed and Brunswick river systems.
